What is Normalised Score in KEAM 2026?

Since KEAM 2026 was conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode across multiple sessions, different sets of question papers were used in each session. To ensure fairness, CEE Kerala uses a Normalisation process to adjust scores across sessions.

The Normalised Score in KEAM is calculated using the Percentile Interpolated Average Method (based on the Tamil Nadu model). Here is how it works:

  • Your raw marks from your specific exam session are first converted to a Session Percentile Score
  • These session percentile scores are then mapped to a common scale to produce the Normalised Score out of 300 (Engineering) or 400 (Pharmacy)
  • The Normalised Score ensures that a candidate who got a slightly easier paper does not have an unfair advantage over someone who got a harder paper

Example: If you scored 180/300 in Session 2 but that session was slightly easier, your Normalised Score might be adjusted to 172 to reflect equal difficulty. Conversely, if your session was harder, your score may be adjusted upward.

The minimum qualifying Normalised Score for the Engineering rank list is 10 out of 300. SC/ST candidates are exempted from this minimum score requirement.

What is Session Percentile in KEAM? (Explained Simply)

The Session Percentile in KEAM is the percentage of candidates in your specific exam session who scored equal to or less than you. It is the first step in the normalisation process.

Formula:

Session Percentile = (Number of candidates in your session who scored ≤ your marks / Total candidates in your session) × 100

Example: If 10,000 students appeared in your session and 8,500 scored equal to or less than you, your Session Percentile = (8500/10000) × 100 = 85th percentile.

A higher session percentile means you performed better relative to others in your session. Your session percentile is then used along with percentiles from all sessions to calculate your final KEAM Normalised Score.

KEAM Rank Predictor 2026: Predict Your Rank Now

Want to know your probable KEAM rank before the official rank list is released on June 20, 2026? Use the KEAM Rank Predictor tool available on Careers360 and Shiksha to get an estimate based on your normalised score and class 12 marks.

The KEAM rank is calculated using a weighted combination:

  • 50% weightage: KEAM Entrance Exam Normalised Score (scaled to 300)
  • 50% weightage: Class 12 (Plus Two) Normalised Academic Score (scaled to 300)
  • Final Index Mark = KEAM Score (out of 300) + Academic Score (out of 300) = 600

The higher your Index Mark, the better your rank. Candidates with the same Index Mark are differentiated by KEAM exam marks first, then Class 12 marks.
