Since KEAM 2026 was conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode across multiple sessions, different sets of question papers were used in each session. To ensure fairness, CEE Kerala uses a Normalisation process to adjust scores across sessions.
The Normalised Score in KEAM is calculated using the Percentile Interpolated Average Method (based on the Tamil Nadu model). Here is how it works:
Example: If you scored 180/300 in Session 2 but that session was slightly easier, your Normalised Score might be adjusted to 172 to reflect equal difficulty. Conversely, if your session was harder, your score may be adjusted upward.
The minimum qualifying Normalised Score for the Engineering rank list is 10 out of 300. SC/ST candidates are exempted from this minimum score requirement.
The Session Percentile in KEAM is the percentage of candidates in your specific exam session who scored equal to or less than you. It is the first step in the normalisation process.
Formula:
Session Percentile = (Number of candidates in your session who scored ≤ your marks / Total candidates in your session) × 100Example: If 10,000 students appeared in your session and 8,500 scored equal to or less than you, your Session Percentile = (8500/10000) × 100 = 85th percentile.
A higher session percentile means you performed better relative to others in your session. Your session percentile is then used along with percentiles from all sessions to calculate your final KEAM Normalised Score.
Your KEAM percentile is a strong indicator of your probable rank. Here is the expected correlation between KEAM percentile and rank for 2026, based on historical data:
| KEAM Percentile | Expected Rank Range | College Tier |
|---|---|---|
| 99.5 and above | 1 – 500 | CET Trivandrum, NIT Calicut |
| 99 – 99.5 | 500 – 1,500 | GEC Thrissur, TKM Kollam |
| 97 – 99 | 1,500 – 5,000 | Top Government Engineering Colleges |
| 93 – 97 | 5,000 – 15,000 | Good Government/Aided Colleges |
| 85 – 93 | 15,000 – 30,000 | Self-Financing Colleges (CS/IT branches) |
| 70 – 85 | 30,000 – 60,000 | Self-Financing Colleges (other branches) |
| Below 70 | 60,000+ | Management/NRI Quota seats |
| KEAM Score (out of 600: Engineering) | Expected Rank |
|---|---|
| 550 and above | 1 – 5,000 |
| 500 – 549 | 5,001 – 12,000 |
| 450 – 499 | 12,001 – 25,000 |

Note: The final rank also factors in your Class 12 marks (normalized), so the actual rank may vary. Candidates must submit their Plus Two marks after the result to remain eligible for the rank list.
Want to know your probable KEAM rank before the official rank list is released on June 20, 2026? Use the KEAM Rank Predictor tool available on Careers360 and Shiksha to get an estimate based on your normalised score and class 12 marks.
The KEAM rank is calculated using a weighted combination:
The higher your Index Mark, the better your rank. Candidates with the same Index Mark are differentiated by KEAM exam marks first, then Class 12 marks.
Your KEAM 2026 scorecard (available at the KEAM Candidate Portal on cee.kerala.gov.in) will display the following information:

Candidates must score a minimum normalised score of 10 out of 300 to be included in the KEAM 2026 Engineering rank list. SC/ST candidates are exempt from this minimum requirement.
The KEAM 2026 Rank List will be published on or before June 20, 2026 on cee.kerala.gov.in, after candidates submit their Class 12 marks.
